At the House of Compassion, we provide free evening meals, a supply closet for essential items, prescription vouchers, utility assistance, and support through our JobPath program.

Free Evening Meals
Sunday – Friday
(Closed Saturday)
5:00 – 6:15 pm
Anyone that is hungry can eat a meal from our Soup Kitchen. On average, 50 people are fed every evening.

ESL & GED Tuition Assistance*
Via Appointment
School supplies are available for registered clients with children in Pre K through high school, as well as individuals enrolled in college. Supplies are available by appointment once per school semester for those registered for classes.

Prescription assistance from the Marshalltown pharmacies at Walmart and HyVee.

Access, once monthly, to hygiene items, household basics, and personal care supplies not covered by food stamps.

Utility Assistance*
Via Appointment
Households who qualify for the Supply Closet can receive up to $150/year for utility payment assistance. Individuals can receive up to $100/year.

Copies of IDs, Birth Certificates, Marriage Certificates*
Via Appointment
We can assist registered clients with covering the cost of replacing these important documents.

Life Skill Classes
Short classes focused on practical skills for everyday life.

Scholarships
Scholarships available to Senior students attending a Marshall County High School

JobPath Program*
Our JobPath program offers a $100 Walmart gift card to registered clients after completing three months at a new job. An appointment must be made prior to the start date. We also partner with Second Chance Thrift Store to provide a $10 clothing voucher for upcoming job interviews.
